List of Fully Funded Scholarships in Ukraine in 2024:
Ukraine offers a number of scholarship opportunities to international students. These scholarships are mostly country-specific. 1# Language Institute in L’viv and University of Kansas Collaborative Awards:
Students who are currently studying at the University of Kansas can take up a Ukrainian language course during their summer break at the Language Institute in Lviv. Students get to stay in Ukraine for free with a Ukrainian family. They will be able to study Ukrainian policy and language.
Students from the USA have the opportunity to apply for other scholarships as well which are available for a semester at most. These scholarships are available for short programs and the students who are interested can apply.
2# Scholarships by IREX:
The IREX is a not-for-profit organization in Ukraine. This organization offers scholarships to students to take up research studies. The funding is gathered from the local and central governments. The period of the scholarship is up to 9 months. During this time, the scholarship holders have to carry out research regarding the foreign policy of Ukraine.
3# The School of Russian and Asian Studies (SRAS) Scholarship Program:
The scholarships by the school of Russian and Asian Studies are meant to help students from Asia and Europe. Students have to be studying one of the listed programs in one of the affiliated universities. One such scholarship is in Kyiv city whereby the students have to study the Russian language and foreign policy. The scholarship is worth USD$5,000 which is given in the form of a tuition fee waiver.Â
Another scholarship is for students who are studying arts and culture in Ukraine. These scholarships are worth USD$700 per recipient and give the students a chance to work in the museums and NGOs of Ukraine.
4# Boren Scholarships and Fellowships:
The Boren scholarships are given to students who want to study in a country that is important for national security. Ukraine and Russia are also included in the list of those countries. Students who are studying Ukrainian or Russian language programs are entitled to a higher share of the scholarship.Â
These awards are highly competitive. The scholarships are worth USD$20,000 and the fellowships are worth USD$30,000. Recipients are also required to work for the Ukrainian government upon completion of their study programs. The department within which the recipients can work is Defence, Homeland security, national security, and the department of state.
5# The Gilman Scholarships:
The recipients of the Pell Grant can apply for this scholarship. This Ukrainian Scholarship is reserved for American students who want to pursue their higher education in another country. Students who are already enrolled in a two-year program and/or are handicapped will be given preference. Ukraine is one of the affiliated countries. The total worth of the award is USD$5,000 and if a recipient picks a language from the list of preferred languages, he/she will be awarded an additional award of USD$8,000.Â
Choosing the Russian language lets the students get the additional award as well as lets them stay in Ukraine even after the completion of their degree programs. Ukraine typically welcomes people who are fluent in the Russian language.
