Makgotso Monyemokathoe (born October 5, 1991), professionally called Makgotso M, is a South African actress. She has appeared in many local television shows and is best known for playing Kamogelo Tsotetsi on the soap opera Isidingo.

Makgotso M has a lot of pull for her role as Onika on the soap opera Muvhango. The actress has continued to do justice to every role that comes her way. Her breakthrough year was in 2016 after she guest starred as Zara, a prostitute who wins a landmark case against her client, in season three of the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners.

In 2017, she played over four roles and did a perfect job. Viewers love her for playing the rebellious Lerato’s younger sister, Kamogelo.

Early Life

Makgotso Monyemokathoe was born October 5, 1991, in Alberton, a city south of the East Rand in Gauteng.

At eleven, she moved to the United Kingdom with her family – mother and sibling. In early 2004, she relocated to the market town of Hitchin and continued her education.

Makgotso Monyemokathoe completed a BA Joint Honors Degree in Theatre Studies, Film and Television in Brunel University.

Her parents value education and then registered her in the primary school Albertview.

Monyemokathoe stayed in Brighton for six months and attended Comat Secondary School. She registered at a prestigious secondary school – The Priory.

Makgotso’s love for drama and dance made her join performing arts clubs. After her GCSEs, she furthered her education, and after her A Levels, she decided to study Theatre Studies, Media, and Psychology.

The actress holds a BA Joint Honours Degree in Theatre Studies, Film and Television from Brunel University.

While in school, she did a short program at the National Youth Theatre. It ended with a final performance at the National Theatre.

At fourteen, she fell in love with drama and dance and has bagged The best performer awards. She started in school and appeared in many school productions.

After graduating, she returned to South Africa to focus on acting.

In 2014, she made her first acting appearance after landing a guest role in season three of the SABC1 sitcom My Perfect Family.

Makgotso landed a featured role in the Terry Pheto-produced feature film Ayanda.

In 2016, she recorded many successes as an actress with a guest starring role of Zara in season three of the SABC1’s Sokhulu & Partners.

The character is a prostitute who wins a landmark case against her client.

In June, she joined the cast members of the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo. She played the rebellious younger sister of Lerato – Kamogelo Tsotetsi.

Makgotso M appeared in the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango as the manic, conniving Onika.
