Biography
Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko (born June 8, 1966) is a South African politician. She is the current Gauteng Member of the Executive Council for Health and Wellness.
From 2019-2022, she served as a Member of the Executive Council for Finance and e-Government. After June 1999, she became a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Early Life
Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko was born on June 8, 1966, in Ngcobo, a town in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. After matriculating from secondary school, she joined her father in Transvaal Province.
Education
Nkomo-Ralehoko studied at Nyanga Senior Secondary School. After matric, she studied office administration at a Vaal college.
Career
Union
In 1988, she got a job at Cosatu house, where she developed an interest in politics. She joined the South African Railways and Harbours Union as an administrator.
During her working years, she flew to Russia to attend a trade union school. She returned to South Africa, and Nkomo-Ralehoko became the union’s political education officer.
Politics
Nomantu worked in the office of prominent politician Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula in the nineties. She was personal assistant to Baleka Mbete and secretary-general of the ANC Women’s League.
While Winnie Madikizela-Mandela served as women’s league president, Nomantu was an executive of the league. She became an administrator at Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 1995.
After the 1999 election, she became a member of the legislature representing the ANC. On May 8, 2009, she became the Gauteng MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development.
On June 5, she resigned from office as MEC due to a misunderstanding between her and Nomvula Mokonyane. Nkomo-Ralehoko received an appointment as the chairperson of the roads and transport committee in the legislature.
After the 2014 election, she emerged as the chair of chairs of the legislature. She won another election as the deputy speaker in 2018.
On June 21, 2018, she won the election for deputy provincial secretary of the African National Congress. Premier David Makhura appointed her Education MEC in May 2019 and was sworn-in on May 30, 2019.
After a public outcry, Premier reshuffled his executive and swapped Nomantu and Lesufi’s positions.
Nkomo-Ralehoko became ANC’s deputy provincial chairperson on June 27, 2022. The new Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, selected her as MEC for Health and Wellness in October 2022.
Personal life
Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko is a mother of two children. Though, she has not revealed the names of her husband and sons to The Saga. The renowned politician supports the Johannesburg-based football club Orlando Pirates.
