Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi (born 07 April 1982 in Alexandra) is a South African actress. She has impressed the country not only with her acting skills but coming out bold about her sexuality.

For almost twenty years, she has been active in the entertainment industry and has appeared in many productions.

She made headlines after she came out open on being a lesbian for many years. Most times celebrity actors are known for the act that gained them popularity. For Nomsa, she is widely known for playing the role of Awelani in Muvhango, an SABC2 soap opera.

She topped to her popularity after being the host on a Mzansi Magic reality show Our Perfect Wedding.

For 17 years, she had been a theatre actress upon doing a television commercial for Absa, she decided to try out television acting in 2007.

In a Vodacom “Summer Loving” commercial, she appeared as a female Metro police officer. In the commercial, her character fell in love with a taxi driver (2007-2008).

More opportunities came knocking afterwards, she landed the starring role of Thandi in Abo Mzala, an SABC1 sitcom in 2011. The role of Dudu in Samsokolo followed. She landed the role in the Mzansi Magic sitcom in 2013.

Sadly, she was dating Unathi Ndondzwana, who died after he suffered a stroke in 2013. His death left her heartbroken that she was taught finding love would be close to impossible.

Love came smiling at her in the arms of Zandile Shezi. She started to date Shezi, who is also a woman. She then triggered a lot of reactions after making her love life public on her birthday. 

Though this left many shocked and speechless per se, the actress revealed that she had been a lesbian for many years now. Since she had been in a romantic relationship with a guy it was shocking to many.
