Tebello Sukwene (born 15 June 1980) is a South African gospel artist. She was a backing vocalist for Lira and Dana, her exceptional singing talent walked her to the spotlight while she was with them.

Tebello has managed to remain relevant and has been consistent in the music genre. Her music has been a source of inspiration to many. Listening to the song lyrics could uplift the soul.

Apart from being a singer, she is a lovely wife, proud mother, writer, and born-again Christian. She has been active in the industry for almost ten years now, but her rise to where she now didn’t come on a platter of gold.

Her date of birth is on 15 June 1980, she was raised in KwaThema and Tsakane. She is the firstborn daughter her mother Sarah Marokoane had. She encountered a problem-filled childhood since she couldn’t find a father figure.

The winner of the 2013 Idols South Africa, Musa Sukwene, is her brother-in-law. Growing up was like any other normal child for young Tebello. 

Her family is a spiritual one, being raised in the family gained her values that have been of great help both in life and career. Her family values played a huge role in making her a Christian and also choosing to be a gospel singer.


Born in Springs on the East Rand, Tebello Sukwene is 41 years old. In March 2015, a news site covered that she was thirty-four years. She received a warm birthday wish from One Gospel on June 15, 2020. She celebrates her birthday annually on June 15.

Tebello Sukwene is married to Bafana Sukwene. Her husband is a producer and a drummer and has been a great help in producing her music. Bafana is so talented that he often plays alongside Simphiwe Dana, a singer, and songwriter.

The couple has been married for over ten years and their union is blessed with children. With her husband, Tebello Sukwene is a parent to Paballo, Siyabulela, and Mahle Sukwene. 


Fame found her while she sang together with Lara and Dana as a backing vocalist. After which she joined the musical group, Joyous Celebration. She remained with the group for five years after which Jesus Alive In Women initiative was born.

She created the initiative to be a medium bringing women from different parts of the country together. 

Tebello became a source of inspiration to many women as she shared her stories with them, they also appreciated the power of God.

With her song, she has been fulfilling her part in fulfilling her duties as a Christian, preaching the gospel. With her songs, she has touched many geographies and people. In 2014, she dropped her first album “He’s Alive”.


The talented singer is also a business-minded person. At her birthday celebration, she broke the news revealing the logo and name of her company on social media. Ollebet Space is the name of the shopping and retail company.


After she left, Tebello and her husband Bafana launched the Nice Life Productions label. She is happy to work with her husband because she thinks he understands her.

Working with my husband is nice because I think he understands me. I am the kind of person who has difficulty expressing myself. I might say things that do not make sense to other people, but he understands it so much better.

Tebello confessed that working with the musical group was a huge pleasure because she learned how to work with others.
